Cancer
This is always a scary area. I strongly feel that any treatment plan needs to be tailored for both the specific cancer and the goals and desires of the person. I do not want to give specific advice here, but read my general conclusions below and if you wish to explore one or more of these options please make an appointment with “Mr. Marsh”. Ask for an “early afternoon one hour appointment for cancer” in order that we may schedule to allow for sufficient time to start this process.
There are good alternative treatments that are very useful in assisting with specific cancers when used in conjunction with standard cancer treatments. They may be harmful when used with the wrong type of cancer or the wrong mix of other treatments.
There is a good chance of significantly improving the outcome, lessening the damage from chemotherapy and or radiation, and lessening side effects utilizing optimal nutritional approaches with traditional treatments.
There are many alternative “treatments” for cancer that are nothing more than a highly unethical way to separate a sucker from his money.
There are a few alternative treatments that are effective by themselves in specific cases.
There are many alternative treatments that offer small success rates and may be useful if integrated into your treatment plan or when you do not wish to undergo chemotherapy or radiation therapy.
Many oncologists and radiation oncologists will not offer specific success rates for a specific treatment. Success rates are not known for some types of cancer and even when the rates are known many people do not want to hear the ‘odds’, so the oncologist may not volunteer this information. A common opinion is that not knowing the odds makes it easier for you to be hopeful, which may help keep you in a good state of mind, which is important for success. I feel that it is essential that you understand the risks and know the success rate in order that you can make the decisions that are right for you. So, if you want to know, it is important that you ask what the success rate is for your particular type of cancer.
If the cure rate for a specific cancer and treatment is less than 1%, and the only benefit is to prolong your life 6 months with the cost being obnoxious side effects, this may be what you choose to do if your goal is to live to see that last grandchild graduate from high school and you need that extra 6 months to do so. In this case minimizing the side effects is where an alternative treatment used in conjunction may excel.
