Weight Management

64% of Americans are overweight and this percentage is rapidly increasing.  Fat cells in the abdomen may be the single most critical factor in the development of diabetes and heart disease.  There are many weight loss plans and medications that work, if you indeed follow the program.  When you quit, you gain back FAT not the mix of fat and muscle you lost.  Each time you start and quit a weight management program, you create a never ending cycle.  This cycle makes it easier to regain unhealthy weight.  Most people in the central U.S. are from Northern or Western European or American Indian ancestory.  Their dietary needs differ from people with different ancestory.

Learn your specific dietary needs!  (Dietary Needs Assessment Survey)  When finished please contact Melissa Marsh at BeHealthy@FordlandClinic.org  OR, make an appointment to see her at the clinic.  No cost nutrition visits are available most Fridays.  All of the instructions for understanding the results are available at www.mannapages.com/wellnessworks

I encourage you to make an appointment with Melissa because she is good about converting "recommendations" into what you can do in real life !
Success Tip #1  Find a friend or two and make a mutual lifelong commitment to a good exercise program with any reasonable diet.  Although this method works, hardly anyone sticks with it.

Success Tip #2  Make small lifestyle changes that you can keep up for the rest of your life.  For any diet to succeed it must allow you to

1.  Eat anytime you are hungry
2.  Eat where ever you happen to be
3.  Eat until you are comfortable ~ not full

You must be able to do these three things to sustain you for the rest of your life.  We have a very simple plan. It WILL work, but personal instruction is essential.  One office visit will give you all the tools you need to succeed.  Follow up visits at a month and then quarterly for the first year improve success.  Nothing to buy.  Effective safe results.

Success Tip #3  Utilize a diet or nutrition expert for personal coaching, but be sure that they know what they are doing.  (For example, the food pyramid is WRONG for most people.)

In the Springfield, Missouri area, Melissa Marsh offers personal coaching and group classes for  weight loss management as well as wellness training programs. This success tip #3 works well with the addition of her nutritional weight loss products.
