Decrease your waiting time!

I hate to wait and assume that you do to!  Please read the tips
below and learn how to decrease your waiting time!

Appointments
Patients with appointments are seen as close to their appointment
time as is possible.  You are encouraged to call ahead for an
appointment even if you need to be seen right now!  We "schedule"
time slots for walk-in patients, but if you are the 5th person to walk
in without an appointment at 9:05 you can expect to be seen between 10:30 and 11:00!  If you call for an appointment at 9:00 we can often see you between 10:30 and 11:00 and there are almost always early afternoon appointments available.  Please tell us the reason you need to be seen when you make an appointment so we can allot the amount of time needed.

Avoid busy times
Between 8:00 am and 10:00 am is the worst time to walk-in.  The
rest of the morning slowly gets better.  Between 5:00 pm and 6:00
pm is usually busy too.  1:00 pm to 4:00 pm is usually the best time
you can walk-in without an appointment and be seen quickly.
Monday is the worst day of the week to walk-in.

Emergencies
Patients with potentially life threatening emergencies are always
seen immediately.  Emergencies may occasionally cause lengthy
unavoidable delays.

I did walk in at a busy time, what now? Ask for an appointment!
While you are always welcome to wait until we can see you, we may
be able to give you an appointment time not much later than you
would have been seen if you had waited.  You may wait at home or
do some errands or go have lunch.  Ask to be called when we slow
down. If your visit was not for an urgent reason, please make an
appointment for the best time for you.  We can always get you the
time you want within a few days.

Why did they get to go back ahead of me?
Several different reasons could cause this.
They had an appointment.
They were a walk-in just AFTER you, but you were a new patient
who needed to complete the paperwork and there was a room
      available right then for them.
They were just here for a nurse visit only (lab draw, TB test etc.)
and they waited while sitting at the nursing station as they only
had to wait for the nurse to get free.
Perhaps we made a mistake.  If so, please tell us so we may
work to be sure that this does not happen again.
Patients who are bleeding all over the waiting room are usually
put in a room quickly and are stabilized.  Then, they may have to
     wait for final treatment.
