Family Planning

Family Planning Services

What is Family Planning?

Any medical and counseling services related to annual woman's
exams, contraception, sexually transmitted disease or problems
with conceiving or infertility fall under Family Planning.  Abortion
services also fall under Family Planning but we do not do abortions.
Our goal is to make contraception available so that there are never
any unwanted pregnancies.

Fordland Clinic was involved in the Missouri Department of Health's
Family Planning for 4 years.  The cost for the required Federal Audit
(not an allowable cost under this program) was prohibitive.  We still
offer limited Family Planning services but these are no longer at
"no cost".  All services are offered at a highly discounted rate. The
Webster County Health Department, 417-859-2532 and most other
County Health Departments in the state of Missouri offer these
services at low to no cost.

Low Cost Pills!

We can now offer HIGHLY discounted birth control pills and Depo
shots to patients who receive their annual exams in our clinic. Other
methods are also available at discounted prices.

The Morning After Pill

The morning after pill is available at Fordland Clinic.  It must be used
within 48 hours of unprotected intercourse, within 24 hours is better.
It is not used if there was a chance that you were pregnant before
the last episode of unprotected intercourse.  It is our opinion that the
morning after pill should not be an over-the-counter medication.
While simple to use we have found that if not used with an anti-
nausea medication you will probably throw it up and then it will not
work.  We also feel that the morning after pill should not be used for
routine contraception and that this is a good opportunity to start or
improve contraception. The cost is $35.00.

Do you need to be 18 to receive services?

At Fordland Clinic we strongly encourage parental involvement in all
decisions related to Family Planning.  Under Missouri law anyone at
any age can be "emancipated" and make their own decisions
including keeping information confidential from parents ONLY for
Family Planning services.   All services are confidential.
